DIY peter pan collar on a blouse ...

I've been wanting to post about this for over a few weeks. School is keeping me incredibly busy, but I've finally founf the time to do this.

The idea of altering a collar suddenly popped up in my  head when I was thinking of what to do with my blouse. It had a pointy collar with didn't 'matched' with old-fashioned skirts. It's easy and really fun to do and I want to share it with everyone. It's a great way to customize an old blouse.

What you'll need :

♥ A blouse with a collar you'd like to change
♥ A sewing machine
♥ Maching thread (or thread in a contrasting colour )
♥ Pins
♥ Scissors

♥ Garn/Faden
♥ Stecknadeln
♥ Schere

The first step is to cut the collar into a shape you like. You can even make a scalloped collar this way, the options are endless.

♥ Finish the raw edges with a zig-zag stitch (very close).
♥ Add cute topstitching for extra elegance, like flowers or dots.
♥ Trim any excess threads and you're ready to wear your blouse.

It only takes a few minutes, is very simple and looks cute. I hope you liked the results.
I'd love to see your customized blouses if you used this DIY :).

Love, Jip

Vintage inspired shoes

I finally bought these shoes after wanting them for several weeks. They were quite expensive (they're medical shoes) but I liked them so much and my old shoes will not last until summer, I'm afraid. So I decided to buy them and I'm really happy, they are so comfortable and yet look pretty. They remind me of 1920s/1930s shoes, only the shape of the heel is 'historically incorrect' ;).

My two-week-holiday was fun. Last week I went to the cinema with my friend to watch Titanic in 3D. It was beautiful and everyone cried, including my friend.I remember seeing it for the first time. Back then my sister said she was not in the mood for 'a stupid costume film'. Now it is her favourite, and also mine.

But I am not only interested in the movie. I have always had a certain interest in old things. Since I watched a few TV-Programmes about the Titanic itself on National Geographic, I have spent the last days of my holiday watching expeditions to the shipwreck on Youtube, and reading things on the internet and in magazines and books about the ship.

I find it so interesting what is still left of it after 100 years, yet so sad that the biggest moving object of its time sank to the bottom of the sea, and that too much people lost their lives (or relatives and friends) that night. Tonight, it will be exactly 100 years ago the Titanic sank. There is a cruiseship which will sail the same route and keep two minutes of silence ; one for when the disaster began and one for when the ship sank. I find it very kind of those people to do that. All the lost lives are still remembered today. I hope it will stay thait way for many, more years. We should never forget it.

With love, Jip.
