My favourite outfit, inspiration and the things I'd like to have.

Assignment A

This is my very first school-blog-assignment, and I think this is the nicest homework I'll get, next to sewing ofcourse. The first assignment was to post a picture of our favourite ouftit :

This was actually the first vintage ouftit I ever bought. It's a two-piece with cute flower crepe fabric which is in perfect condition. It dates to the 1940s. Only the buttons and zipper have been replaced, probably in the 1980s, according to the zipper. I bought it in a second-hand-store for 8 Euros (both pieces were 4 euro) and I've worn it so many times already since I bough it one and a half year ago. There are no labels or brands, for it was handmade by someone who could sew very well many, many years ago. For the school assignment, we also have to answer this question : 'How important is fashion to you' ? Fashion is rather important to me, although I really do not care about the latest trends. I like to wear things that were in fashion from the 1930s and the 1940s.

Assignment B

For this assignment we had to collect images of clothing we would like to have but which is far too expensive. I collected images from Etsy, and created a collage using Polyvore. I also wrote down the prices. So if you like vintage and have a lot of money, this is what you can buy ;).

Things I'd like to have .. But they're too expensive

I looked for 1940s shoes because I like old shoes so much since I've bought a pair in Amsterdam a few weeks ago. I can never have too much vintage dresses. Especially with prints. And I want to collect vintage bags, as I have only one. I think the cape is so cute and warm, and it has this stunning 1940s silhouette.

Assignment C

For this assignment, we had to write down who inspires us. I chose my friend Lindsay, which I met in Amsterdam. We have so much in comment and I am so glad that I have finally found a vintage-friend to talk about all things 1940s :). She also has a beautiful and interesting blog :

I really admire her style because she is so historically correct. Her clothing, her shoes and especially her hair. She already gave me advice about curling and combing hair, but mine still doesn't look as beautiful as hers does :) She is really nice and I think she's just in general a great person. And I love the fact that we both love the 1940s.

Love, Jip.

What a thoroughly lovely post, I always enjoy hearing about a person's early days and first steps into the vintage fashion world.

I really have to echo the other two posters here, you hair looks absolutely terrific!

What a great homework assignment!

I love your favorite outfit. It is so colorful! And what a score!

Regarding how important fashion is to oneself, I think there is something to be said about your perspective (as well as mine). While we both may say that fashion is important to us, we are not lemmings and follow trends, like you mentioned. In this, I think those who love vintage are more secure in themselves and their passions.

Oh boy, I totally understand about things being too expensive to buy. Loving vintage a little difficult at times. *sigh*

And it is so lovely that you have a friend who inspires you! I think that if I had to answer that question, I'd be saying some movie star or something.
